Welcome to our review of the Drive Medical Sunfire General. If you are interested in the Drive Medical Sunfire General, we have some valuable information below about this product that you should know about. We feel that the EZ Lite Cruiser Standard is the best electric wheelchairs because they are light weight, compact, easy to use and very affordable when compared to the Drive Medical Sunfire General and it's offerings.

Drive Medical Sunfire GeneralThe Drive Medical SP-3C-BL701 Sunfire General Power Wheelchair is not much different than many similar power electric wheelchairs on the market today. As with many of the other models in Drive Medical’s range, the Sunfire General has a lot of the same standard features, such as adjustable arm rests, adjustable seat height, adjustable headrest, and a few others. The Sunfire General is definitely one of the heaviest electric wheelchairs in Drive Medical's range of products, weighing in at 219.5 pounds (99.6 kilograms) with the battery. With this heavy of a weight, you will need to purchase and install a lift on your car or SUV to be able to transport it long distances. We would also like to point out that the Drive Medical SP-3C-BL701 Sunfire General Power Wheelchair has one of the largest turning radius at 42 inches (106.7 centimeters), which does not really make it very convenient for indoor use. If you require something that can handle both indoors and outdoors, you should choose one with a better turning radius.

Let's get into the specifics of the parameters of the Drive Medical Sunfire General. The device weighs about 219.5 pounds (99.6 kilograms) with battery: the base weighs 154.4 pounds (70 kilograms), and the battery weighs 65.1 pounds (29.5 kilograms). The overall dimensions (L x W x H) are 43 inches x 26 inches x 46 inches (109.2 centimeters x 66 centimeters x 116.8 centimeters.) The seat is available in a 19.5 inches (49.5 centimeters) and 22 inches (55.9 centimeters) width. The seat length is 18.5 inches (47 centimeters.) The turn radius is 42 inches (106.7 centimeters.)

The Drive Medical Sunfire General can get up to a speed of about 5 miles per hour (8 kilometers per hour). On average, depending on user weight, the terrain and battery condition, it can last for up to 10 miles (16 kilometers) of continuous use on a full battery charge. The motors on the Drive Medical Sunfire General can handle inclines of up to 8 degrees, and the chair boasts a durable construction, due to its heavy weight, which can support passengers between 400 pounds (181.4 kilograms) and 500 pounds (226.8 kilograms), when equipped with 22 inch (55.9 centimeter) seat.

Due to its large size, the Drive Medical Sunfire General requires a car lift. Most people, even with reasonable upper body strength, will not be able to lift it without support of a car lift. Since it can not be folded, it can not be stored in a car/SUV trunk. It will need to be carried on a lift. Depending on where it is purchased, it may come pre-assembled. Most times some assembly is required and a toolkit may be required. It accomplishes most indoor mobility requirements. Some doorways and hallways may be tight to fit through because of its size and turn radius. Handles simple outdoor mobility fairly, such as paved sidewalks & flat surfaces, but may be limited as to the terrains it can roll on. Testimonials are mixed. Some of the biggest complaints from customers is the size, weight and cost.
