The Shoprider Jumbo XL is a heavy duty mobility scooter weighing 310 pounds (140.6 kilograms) when you factor in the weight of the batteries. Since it is a heavy duty model, it can support passengers weighing up to 500 pounds (226.8 kilograms). Because of its weight and size, you will need to purchase and install a lift on your car if you are going to be transporting it long distances. Also, it may be cumbersome to deal with when taking it to certain places such as the airport, a cruise ship or public transportation. Some users were inclined to purchase a separate van just to transport it. In terms of turning radius, the Shoprider Jumbo XL has an extremely poor turning radius of 72 inches (182.9 centimeters), which means it will be extremely limited with mobility indoors such as a supermarket, department store, a house of worship, and other public places, not to mention inside your home. If you are fine with limiting the use of your Shoprider Jumbo XL to just the outdoors, then that may not be a problem for you, but as we've found from reviews online, many users do not like this. At the retail price of $3395, plus the cost of a car lift (and possibly the installation of the car lift) the actual cost of ownership could be nearing $4000 when all is said and done. Because of this, it may not be completely worth it, as there are other, more affordable personal mobility devices on the market that are equipped with better features and specifications. Let's see how it stacks up against the EZ Lite Cruiser Standard and HD Heavy Duty Models:
